With more than 35 years of producing and working for public health, Berko Pharmaceuticals took part in one of the 2021 R&D projects initiated by Presidency of The Republic of Turkey Defence Industry Agency (SSB) with the vision of a fully independent defence industry.
Berko Pharmaceuticals is proud to take part in the "New Generation Decontamination Agent Technology Development Against Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents (DEKON) Project", one of the 2021 R&D projects initiated by the Defence Industry Agency (SSB). Berko Pharmaceuticals joined the project with the awareness that R&D and technology are of great importance in achieving the vision of a fully independent defence industry.
A signing ceremony was held in Ankara on 27 January for 13 new R&D projects implemented by the Defence Industry Agency (SSB) in 2021. Prof Dr İsmail Demir, President of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB), and Dr Şaduman Aziz, Head of R&D and Technology Management Department at the SSB, delivered speeches at the ceremony, which was attended by SSB officials and representatives from sector companies. During the ceremony, a commemorative card was signed between the SSB and the relevant parties for each project. The projects in question are being carried out by a group of 24 stakeholders, including universities, prime contractors and companies.
Within the scope of the "Development of New Generation Decontamination Agent Technology Against Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents (DEKON) Project", reactive decontamination materials will be developed against chemical/biological warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals in cooperation with Berko Pharmaceuticals, SSB, TÜBİTAK MAM and Sun Textile, and four different formulations of these materials, including powder, liquid, pad/wipe and cream/lotion, will be developed and produced with national facilities.
